February in Summit
What do we celebrate in February? February is keenly known for being the shortest month, usually only 28 days long, but has 29 days during leap years such as 2020 and 2024. We celebrate former President's birthdays, Washington and Lincoln; we seek the weather outlook advice of a large rodent, the groundhog, and we consider February the month of love as we exchange valentines to express our loving sentiments.
More widely recognized as African-American History month, February hosts many events celebrating and commemorating former civil rights activists, Black narratives, art and history in America. The Summit Free Public Library is hosting a variety of Black History month events for the community. Movies, seminars, and The Brown Bag Book Club will be available, free ,to the public throughout the month.
